“Clients are unable to connect to EagleSoft Messenger — Port 5964 may be blocked or the service is not running.”
Ensure that proper permissions are set for both the EagleSoft folder and relevant registry entries.
- On the server, press
Windows + S
and search for:
Patterson EagleSoft Messenger Server
- You should see it listed under Background Processes.
- If it’s not running, start the service manually.
On the affected client machine:
- Press
Windows + S
and search for Technical Reference.
- Open the program and go to:
- Settings (or Database Setup if using version < 21.20).
- Uncheck Auto Search for Server.
- Manually enter the correct Server Name or IP address.
- Apply settings and exit.
- Ensure the client machine can ping the server by name and IP.
- Confirm that no firewall rules are blocking traffic on port 5964.
- If all else fails, try restarting the server machine that runs the Messenger service.
To ensure the Messenger Server starts with the database:
- Press
Windows + S
and search Technical Reference.
- Navigate to Settings (or Database Setup if below version 21.20).
- Check the box:
Start Patterson EagleSoft Messenger Server when Database Server is Started
- Click Apply and exit.
